Herriman Utah Rose Canyon Stake
Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Herriman Utah Rose Canyon Stake,
We gratefully join with members across our nation and with our Prophet and First Presidency in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. We invite you to thoughtfully participate in the following activities endorsed by the First Presidency (see attached letter):
Fifth Sunday Meeting – May 31, 2026
Wards are invited to use a new video message featuring President D. Todd Christofferson and Elder Quentin L. Cook (available on ChurchofJesusChrist.org). In this message, they discuss the significance of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and how these inspired documents support religious freedom and our God-given agency.
Stake Service Initiative – June 2026
In addition, we invite stake leaders and all eight wards to participate in a collective goal of 250 acts of service within our community during the month of June. A member of the high council, along with a companion speaker (which may include available military service men and women in our stake), will introduce this invitation in sacrament meeting and encourage each ward family to participate.
As a visual reminder of these efforts, we invite wards to place red, white, or blue stars (provided by the Stake) on the bishop’s office door describing the acts of service that are completed—up to 31 stars (per Ward) during the month. Stake leaders will participate similarly at the stake center. Ward "star-progress" will be reported to and celebrated by the Stake!
Service opportunities may be organized through families, youth groups, quorums, or individuals. Ideas may include:
Serving at the Columbus Adult Education Center
Participating in city or neighborhood clean-up efforts
Visiting the elderly (such as at the Beehive Homes in Herriman)
Donating at a Red Cross blood drive (make an appointment with Red Cross or ARUP Blood Services)
Opportunities on JustServe.org
Projects organized through 'FamilySearch' (including temple service)

Worldwide Fast – Sunday, July 5, 2026
All are invited to participate in a unified fast to express gratitude for religious liberty and to pray that it may be strengthened throughout the world. We encourage individuals and families to prepare in advance and thoughtfully consider the focus of their fast. We will also gather briefly as a stake via a virtual meeting at 4:00 p.m. that day for a concluding “break-the-fast” prayer together.
We also plan to display American flags at each of our three stake buildings (Stake Center, Cove Building, and Rose Canyon Building) on May 31 and July 5 as a symbol of unity and gratitude.
As the Lord declared, He "established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom [He] raised up unto this very purpose" (Doctrine and Covenants 101:80). We recognize His guiding hand in the preservation of religious liberty and in the blessings we enjoy.
We love our country, we sustain our Prophet, and we love each of you. As we participate in these inspired efforts, we pray that we will grow in our appreciation for the Restoration, for religious liberty, and for the many ways our Heavenly Father has blessed this land.
Sincerely,
Adam T. Soffe
